Government kills our ambition
Editor:
One man's past is another man's gain. I've messed up bad as a child, a felony, and a stupid possesion and DUI charge. I'm trying to turn my life into something great, but thanks to the state of Florida they refuse to expunge my charges.
I have the education. I have the determination but because of my past I'm denied. We all make mistakes. What can we not learn from our mistakes? Can we not fight for the American dream?
I want to be a law enforcement officer but I'm bound by Florida law. How can snitches work with the police but not a man like me. I know I can make a difference and I'm denied because of my past.
I'm 29 years old and because of my juvenile stuff I am denied. It's nothing serious; I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm not looking for pity but is there not change? People change.
I have kids; I'm sorry for what I've done. My kids want a father to look up to and I am so willing to put the time in to show my kids. The system is not meant for the bad; it helps the good. I have never seen that but I still believe in it. I just wish something would change; our government kills our ambition.
